Fishing and Golf on North Uist
Fishing
Fishermen and women are well catered for. Both sea and freshwater fishing is excellent and species include wild brown trout, sea trout and salmon. Permits, boat hire, guides and ghillies are available locally.

The fishing amidst the spectacular North Uist scenery has certainly been described as world class and includes wild brown loch trout, sea trout, arctic char and salmon. There are about 800 lochs and lochans on North Uist, most of which contain wild brown trout. Loch Hosta (only three minutes by car) has some of the "best wild brown trout fishing in Britain" according to Flyfishing Magazine.The North Uist Angling Club has the latest information and permit prices. Boats, equipment and guides can be hired locally and fishing permits can be obtained from the Westford Inn (phone 01876 580653).

Golf
​
Playing Golf on one of the five golf courses in the Outer Hebrides is a unique experience. There are 5 golf courses in the chain of islands which form the Outer Hebrides.
The renowned Askernish Golf course is about 1 hours drive away on the West of South Uist and is open to non-members.
Benbecula Golf Course is also open to visitors and is about 30 mins drive from the cottage.
