North Uist is fantastic for cycling and has the Hebridean cycleway

Sport and activities on land and sea

There is superb walking along grass tracks through the Machair and a series of gorgeous firm, flat, white sand beaches which allow continuous walking or running for many miles in solitude. The pure air, wild ocean vistas, vast skyscapes, the sweet scent of the Machair flowers and the terrain uninterrupted by gates or stiles can make this a runner's and walker's paradise.

The bay is ideal for canoes, kayaking, paddle boarding, snorkelling and also kite surfing. There really is something for everyone to enjoy on a self catering holiday on North Uist.

The roads are ideal for cycling and the famous Hebridean cycle way passes through North Uist. To plan your route see the Sustrans website

Wild Swimming

The bay beside the cottage is perfect and very safe for swimming, especially around high tide, with its crystal clear turquoise water and absence of any current

You can be in a steaming hot bath or shower within 5 minutes walk from the water's edge. 10 minutes in the sea will make you feel 10 years younger.

Revitalising and rejuvenating!

Cycling

The roads and plentiful off-road tracks are ideal for cycling, which is a great way to see the magnificent scenery.

You can also cycle sections of The Hebridean Way

Running

Run for miles along flat white sand beaches or coastline. Breathe some of the purest air in the world as you enjoy the wild ocean vistas, vast sky-scapes, the sweet scent of the Machair wildflowers in summer can make this a walker's and runner's paradise.
